| NMCA recognizes both the unique challenges moving contractors face and the many responsibilities they handle in running the day to day operations of their business. Moving contractors are operating a business and therefore need to operate as such. This means understanding the true profitability of the services they provide and being fully aware of revenue and expense issues. It also includes managing cash flow, understanding tax consequences, securing affordable comprehensive health coverage and providing for their own retirement.
In addition, moving contractors seem to be operating in an environment of decreasing profits as the cost of doing business is rising faster than revenues. Keeping in mind these key issues, there can be little doubt in the need for a strong association. Together, with the assistance of the association, moving contractors can share information that can improve their daily operations. Our collective voice can influence rates, negotiate affordable insurance and vendor pricing, and improve our image in the moving and storage industry.
